The Center of Excellence Scholarship/Internship Program (COE) is set to begin its 26th year of operation on Monday, May 17. The 2021 COE will welcome eager students to the
campus of Iowa State University for an intensive, six-week immersion into all things poultry.
Classes run through June 25 at which time students will transition to the second phase of the COE, summer internships. Internships at MPC member companies offer students a first-hand look at life in the field of poultry and provide valuable, hands-on work experience within the industry.
Good luck 2021 COE students!
COE 2021 will be back in person! Classes start on May 17 at the Iowa State University campus. We are also bringing back a student favorite, the "Welcome Bags." During COE recruitment events, past students often mention appreciating the swag bag the industry gives to welcome them to COE. We need your help in this effort. We are seeking promotional items and trinkets from MPC member companies to include in the bags
Items such as highlighters, key chains, flash drives, stress toys, travel mugs, beach towels or other items that promote your company and provide a useful or unique 'welcome' gift would be appreciated. In the past, students have especially appreciated items which help them remain organized and fueled for their classes, i.e., highlighters, post-it notes, travel/coffee mugs, popcorn, coffee store gift cards, etc.
Please help us make our students' transition to Ames a great one by sending items you think would be useful in this effort. Please provide 32 of any item sent so each student can get one.
Please send your items to the MPC office, arriving no later than Tuesday, May 11. The shipping address is: 4630 Churchill St., #1; St. Paul, MN 55126. (Contact
Chelsea Russell at 651-766-8118 or mpc@mwpoultry.org with any questions.)

Lara Durben, Midwest Poultry Federation
If there is one thing our organization consistently hears from a variety of poultry companies, agribusinesses, and farm owners and managers, it’s that well-trained and knowledgeable employees with a passion for all things avian-related are in high demand.
That’s why Midwest Poultry Federation has made it a commitment to host a student careers program during its annual in-person convention and trade show in Minneapolis each spring. While the pandemic has put these in-person events on hold for now (we’re going virtual in May!), we still remain committed to being a place where students and poultry businesses can make connections.
