COE Students Honored at Year-End Banquet

The Midwest Poultry Consortium recently held its 2018 COE Magical Banquet and Awards Ceremony at Madison’s Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club to honor its 35-member COE class – one of the largest ever for the program. Marking the end of its 23rd year of educating students, the year-end banquet and awards ceremony brought together students, family members, faculty, MPC board members, staff, and industry representatives to socialize, network, and recognize and reward students and faculty for their hard work in completing another successful summer session. Faculty Critical to the Success of COE

As many of their colleagues were enjoying a long summer break, the Center of Excellence Scholarship/Internship Program’s faculty members took valuable time out of their summer schedules to prepare a curriculum, travel to Madison, and share their valuable knowledge and expertise with our COE students. These dedicated individuals include nationally recognized faculty from participating land grant institutions, experienced poultry industry representatives, and professionals from other universities and related agencies. Together, they serve as the backbone of the COE and provide students with unmatched expertise in the field of poultry. Click here for entire article.

Simplified Water Line Maintenance
Derrick Ament, VAL-CO

The goal of every poultry farmer is to grow healthy birds with consistent weights, and water plays a large part in making that happen. We tend to focus on the amounts of water – how much is supplied? How much is consumed? Important, but perhaps we should focus first on water quality and accessibility. All that worry about flow rates and water pressure doesn’t mean anything if the lines are dirty, crooked, or uneven. Click here for the complete article.
